SimpleVIS®+ is a single sample, portable viscometer with built-in active cooling for rapid temperature adjustment. With near D445 precision, it is easy to use, rugged, and fast. Available viscometer tubes cover a viscosity range of 2 to 700 mm²/s (cSt) at two selected temperatures between 40 °C and 100 °C.
COMMON APPLICATIONS
- Product chain of custody monitoring
- Contamination checks
- Point of use testing
- Industrial lube blending
- Packaging & distribution of petroleum products
- Petroleum terminals
- Remote used oil predictive maintenance
- Power plant applications
- Remote mining applications
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
Automated and precise determination of direct kinematic viscosity at 40°C or 100°C*
- Provides kinematic viscosity measurement without the need to correlate dynamic viscosity data
- Cools from 100 °C to 40 °C in ~30 minutes
- Viscosity range:
- Standard range tube provides viscosities from 10 to 700 mm²/s (cSt) at 40 °C and 5.5 to 200 mm²/s (cSt) at 100 °C
- Low range tube provides viscosities from 2 to 140 mm²/s (cSt) at 40 °C and 100 °C
- Follows ASTM D7279 and offers near ASTM D445 precision due to exceptional temperature control (±0.05 °C)
- Rapid cycle time of 3 to 5 minutes from sample injection to test result
Portable, self-contained and dependable
- Weighs approximately 10 lb and takes up less space than a coffee maker
- Does not require a PC or any external utilities
- Optional power inverter enables the instrument to run off of a 12 Vdc vehicle charging port
- Rugged, reliable design has only two moving parts
Simple & safe operation
- Graphical touch screen display provides step by step test instructions
- Factory calibrated; no gauges, or valves to adjust
- Solid-state temperature control eliminates need for liquid bath
- Intrinsically safe unit operates on 12 Vdc power
- Optional printer available
Economical
- Low cost of ownership
- Requires only 10 to 15 mL of solvent and 0.5 mL of sample per test
- No sample vials required; sample is injected directly into the instrument
*The unit can store two temperatures and is pre-calibrated to 40 °C and 100 °C but custom calibration at any two temperatures between 40 °C and 100 °C is available on request
